This two-week trek to the foot of the world’s highest mountain is designed for all those who have limited time. The trek starts and ends in Lukla. After a short flight and spectacular landing at the airstrip, you start walking from here, at 2800 M. The trail follows the Dudh Kosi valley and climbs up to the Sherpa capital of Namche, a bustling bazaar that’s a junction for trekkers, local Sherpas and expeditions en route to Mt. Everest. Rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs puncture the trail till the tree line. It is a sheer delight to see the flowers in bloom if you are there in early autumn and late spring.

From Namche, we start climbing up where you get to see the first good views of Everest. We then head towards Thyangboche Monastery that sits at 3867 M in a clearing surrounded by dwarf firs and rhododendrons. From here, you have commanding views of the Everest landscape. Closer, Ama Dablam rises into the sky.

We then descend to Imja Khola and continue to the villages of Debuche, Pangboche and Dingboche before finally approaching the Khumbu Glacier. All along the way, you get to see spectacular views of Ama Dablam. We then follow the glacier, first to Lobuche, a vantage point for some spectacular views of the Ama Dablam, Taweche and other peaks and then arrive at Gorak Shep for a breather.

We also have the opportunity to ascend Kala Pattar (5680 M) from where you see the summit pyramid of Everest and fantastic views of Nuptse and Pumori. We then trek down to Everest Base Camp at the foot of the Khumbu ice fall before finally making our way back down to Lukla.
