Kuari pass trek in the Garhwal Mountains first paved by Lord Curzon in 1905 beckons the adventure lover to experience thrill and pleasure. This route is known as 'Curzon Trail'. The journey takes you through lush green fields, secluded villages and virgin forests based in Himalayan Mountains. The picturesque view of ranges like the Mt.Nanda Devi, Kamet, Dronagiri and Hathi-Ghodi Parvat, enchants the trekker while walking through the Kuari Pass.

The fresh mountain breeze and the magnificent scenery around will continuously rejuvenate you and you will forget to feel tired. Since this is not a very difficult trek, often the novice mountaineers get their training here. It will take about 6days of thorough 5hours walk to complete this trekking. Once over you may check out other the two major attractions of this trip that are Joshimath and Auli. Joshimath is where Sri Shankaracharya is have attained enlightenment. Auli is famous for its skiing slopes. For adventure lovers, there is a scope of rock climbing and moon light trekking.


  1. Day 00: by overnight train journey from New Delhi

    Start your journey at 23.55hrs from New Delhi Railway Station in Dehradun AC Express and reach Haridwar next morning at 04:00 hrs.

  2. Day 01: Drive to Piplakoti

    After reaching Haridwar station, hire a car and drive down to a small village called Pipalkoti. Stay here for a night at any hotel.

  3. Day 02: Drive to Auli and trek to Gorson

    Next day start your journey and cross 60kms to reach the winter ski resort of Auli. Now you meet your team and instructor here who will then take you through the forests of oak and rhododendron to reach meadows of Gorson by walking. After an overnight camping at Gorson, you will start trekking on day 3.

  4. Day 03: Trek to Tali (3310m)

    Once you cross the Gorson meadows you start observing the spectacular arc created by the high mountains of Nanda Devi, Dunagiri, Hathi, Ghori right infront. After the days trekking you rest in you camp placed in the woods near the small water body at Tali.

  5. Day 04: Tali to Khulara (3,395m) via the Kuari Pass (3,700m)

    On fourth day you will climb the edge along the Tali pass. After crossing the rocky mounds you will reach the Kuari pass (3,700 m). This journey is not tiring hence after completing the trek you may have your lunch at the camp at Khulara and rest there for the night.

  6. Day 05: Trek Khulara to High Camp (4,000m)

    This walk is an icing on the cake, walk through the deep snow and reach the Pangarchulla peak (4600). Enjoy the shivering night at the camp amidst the snowy territory of Himalays.

  7. Day 06: High Camp - Pangarchulla Summit (4,600m) - Khulara

    After waking early next morning, start climbing the ridge of the mountains with the headlamps. It will take about 3 to 4hrs to reach the peak. The last part of the trek is very steep and rocky, hence the trekkers are advised to tie ropes and climb the mountain. Finally once experienced, you may now slowly come down to your base camp and enjoy the lunch. You will have to stay for the night in the camp at Khulara.

  8. Day 07: Khulara - Tapovan (1905m) 4-5 hrs and drive to Pipalkoti (1330m)

    Kuari pass trek is incomplete without resting at Tapovan. In just 3 hours drive you reach the most desired relaxing place in the hotel Pipalkoti. Here in the hot spring relax and rejuvenate your tired nerves after an exhausting trek. Stay for that night at the Hotel Pipalkoti.

  9. Day 08: Pipalkoti - Delhi

    At the end of the trip, you again start your day with a heavy breakfast and prepare yourself for the 8 hr long drive to Haridwar. From there in the evening board Shatabdi Express leaving at 6:10 pm which will reach New Delhi station 10:45 pm at night. Leave on own for onward destination.
